Q Fever
What is q fever?
Q Fever is an illness caused by a bacteria Coxiella burnetii that people can catch from coming into contact with infected animals or animal products. Usually it’s from cows but people have been known to get Q Fever from sheep, cattle, kangaroos, bandicoots, dogs and cats.

- Fever which comes on fast
- Blurred vision
- Chills
- Nausea and diarrhoea
- Sweating
- Severe tiredness and confusion
- Severe headache
- Aching muscles and joints
- Weight loss

Why is it a problem?Q Fever can cause severe fatigue for months with loss of ability to work.
In even more severe cases, Q Fever can cause inflammation of the heart which often needs long term treatment. |
